its a really fun place and if I went back i'd stay on KOS town again. Plenty to do, good beaches and boat trips.

Bar Streets 1 and 2 are chaos

"I went a long time ago and stayed at the other end of the island to Kos town. I think it might have been in Kosamina (sp?)."

Almost certainly Kardamena chim. I first went in around 1990 when our kids were tiny toddlers and we stayed in a hotel where it was standing alone in a field and the beach was literally a typical Greek fishing village with one Greek restaurant nearby.

Fantastic beach that we crashed out on daily keeping the kids amused or sleeping under sun shades and we loved the experience of sun bathing day after day with no hassles and all very cheap.

Then around 2000 we went back and stayed in an apartment when the kids were young teenagers. Unbelievable amount of growth of hotels and apartment blocks and entertainment and restaurants everywhere. Still a fantastic place but it was where our kids discovered a night life existed and we had to keep them from being up all night in the discos.

Then we went again for a final holiday with the kids when they were about 18 around 2005 and allowed them to take a pal each so booked three double rooms in a nice hotel. They had a whale of a time and so did we but by now it had turned into a really busy holiday spot.

Still, every time we went we had sun everyday and full English breakfast in the local cafe was about £3.00 from memory and was absolutely huge. Our son and his cousin got up around lunch time and had one each then drifted off to the bars after a few hours of sun and more sleep again...

Very fond memories of Kardamena....

Re: Kos - anyone been,
I did a day trip there from Kusadasi in Turkey and thought it was a nice little town. There's a hotel near the wharf that had a pool on the roof that they allowed random visitors to use, so we just sat in the pool in the hot summer sun. With the town and the bay in the background it was lovely.

If you're at Kos and have a day to spare, I'd recommend reversing that day trip, getting a ferry to Kusadasi and getting a taxi up to Celcuk.

Re: Kos - anyone been,
I've been there several times and the Mrs and I call it 'home from home.'

The first couple of times we went we stayed in Kardamena, at the Mitsis Palace and Aegean Village hotels, but after we discovered Tigaki we have always stayed there ever since.

If you ever pop into Tigaki make sure you visit the Oneiro restaurant. It's halfway down the Main Street on a corner. The food is fantastic, the prices are cheap and the staff are friendly and excellent. At weekends you might need to book in the high season.

We have stayed at the Tigaki Beach and Tigaki Star hotels, but the bulk of the Brits tend to stay at the Mythos apartments in the Main Street.

Man I got pissed up big time

Woke up late one afternoon after being out all night on the piss and I had this memory - must have been a dream - of bumming a small blonde boy, killing him, Then hiding the body.

Never got that messed up again. Well, there was this one time in Portugal in 2007 but that was just a lapse.

Re: Kos - anyone been,
I went a long time ago and stayed at the other end of the island to Kos town.

I think it might have been in Kosamina (sp?).

We hired a scooter to go to Kos town mainly but every day used to go past a little place called Bubble Beach.

If you stand on Bubble Beach you can see the volcanic island, just in case you want to orientate yourself.

Anyway, the reason it's called Bubble Beach is because one of those volcano vents is just off the beach so you swim out a bit and its a bit like swimming in Alka-Saltsa. If you dip your head under the water you can literally hear a million bubbles fizzing away.

I'd like to think I'm pretty well-travelled but I've never encountered anything like it again, even somewhere you'd kind of expect it like in Bali or Java. The experience stayed with me, and that's what holidays are all about.

That, and getting cunted on Keo. So do both.

Re: Kos - anyone been,
Was there in 2015, stayed at the Kipriotis.

Since then though the immigrants are landing on the beaches so the Town is a no go area.

Real shame as the island is beautiful.
